It's for warming up the adamantium (that's how you spell it, yeah?) to melt it off. You're gonna pull, and the heat'll make sure it doesn't rip her extra knuckles off.
Wish I had something a bit more precise than a forge for this, admittedly, but the Dawn Court's fire magic doesn't melt things, I've learned. But don't worry, I've done some testing; promise she won't get hurt. [ Probably... ]
I know what for. I was wondering how. Which tools you would use. Where you would direct that heat.
[ Erik thinks he might not even need the heat to draw the metal to him, but it would still be a risk, if he could not make the extraction smooth he might just cause Laura unnecessary hurt. If this could help lessen that risk, he'd rather do that. ]
She most likely will, unfortunately. I can sense how far deep the metal goes, it will not be so easy to draw all of it out without some pain.
I'm just using the stuff at the blacksmith's place, but I can figure out a way to get a blowtorch rigged up, which'll give me a bit more precision. We'd need a fume hood to take care of the heat, but in the absence of one of those, doing it by the water's the best I can realistically offer.
Wanna share this info with the rest of the class? How deep does it go?
If it's made of metal, I can help construct it. Both of them.
Her claws don't extend completely out of her arm. There's always a section that remains inside her hand, to provide for balance while she uses them. That section is also covered in metal.
I daresay this is going to be the start of a beautiful friendship.
So like a badger or something. Got it. How finely can you control your metal thing? Any chance you've tried anything subatomic? Maybe we can remove it in thin layers, like nanometer thin, to do the least amount of damage and make it hurt as little as possible.
Normally, I'm a bit more [ Overly-confident? Pig-headed? ] rush in and ask questions along the way, but I like Laura. [ So he really doesn't want to get her hurt with this mildly insane thing he agreed to do for her. ]
As do I. [ Evidently. But it bears pointing out, because what he delivers next could very well be read as a vague threat. ] So for as long as we have the same goal to keep her from harm, I don't anticipate us running into any issues.
[ Tony, ever paranoid, of course reads it as a vague threat. But he's going to ignore the red flag in the name of the little girl who needs his help. ] You let me know when Laura's ready. I'll make my preparations. Muy bien? [ He is, after all, her father, right? ]

[ Just wondering over here why she didn't even tell him about this to begin with, but that's his own personal issue. ]
How exactly would you use heat? She can heal but I would rather minimize the pain she's put through.

[ It better be or else Tony might find out Erik would be his worst possible enemy. ]
It's a skill I've honed over the past fifty years. I can control it to perfection now. If you'd like, I can show you.

She will reach out to you, I'm sure. I'll speak with her in the meantime.
