We are all different. But Charles certainly isn't part of the norm. I'd say he's more powerful than any mutant I've met so far.
[ Even Emma's telepathy had a weakness. Charles has no such thing. Which isn't to say they won't encounter more powerful mutants in the meantime, but for now Erik feels like his assessment is true. ]
You needn't go very far. I have hurt mutants, and non-mutants alike. We are just as everyone else. Different people, different motivations and lengths that we are willing to go to achieve our goals.
( that is definitely the impression she has gotten from charles; is that why she's somewhat intimidated by him? but, then, she met someone who is a mutant and claims to be a very strong telepath, too.
well— )
Not you. I know about you. I guess I meant here in Panorama, or are all the mutants that you know are here okay?
( she recognizes the way she feels about him, as this paternal figure, so she may, indeed, be too forgiving (biased). not that she cares if anyone sees it that way. )
i made a friend who is a mutant. he's not part of the x-men though. he's alright, but he seems not too ... sure about other mutants. so,
But if he's spoken with him, then that's possibly the best approach to our community as it currently stands. No other mutant will be as friendly and accommodating.
i don't know that he wants community that he doesn't choose?
( david is a mystery )
it's just strange because he's like me. our powers, i mean. sort of. it just makes me wonder how different really am i from someone who is considered a mutant. or, i guess: i don't think i know enough of where my powers come from.
( speaking of conflicting feelings regarding powers. she remembers their conversation about whether she had thought of using her powers not to destroy— )
Naturally. I feel like that would be the same for all of us.
[ But so far as introductions to the group of mutants in Panorama goes, Charles is a very solid start. Whether or not this David wants to be involved in any way, that's for him to decide later. ]
It is possible that there was something in your genetic code that was unlocked by the experiments you went through. I don't think there's a way for us to know with certainty here. Maybe you are a mutant. It's a possibility I wouldn't discard entirely, after everything I've seen.
( she knew that erik would be super chill about this whole thing, which is why she is giving him a bit of a heads up— )
david's my friend. if you ever meet him, be kind to him.( quickly: )i know you will be.
( she hopes, anyway. it all deeply depends on david, she thinks...
on the other hand, wanda isn't sure if it would bring her reprieve or not to know whether she was a mutant. it's not that she yearns to be one, but there's certainty in the feeling that it seems easier to belong with them than with others, should she allow herself that—
end of the day, it's only more questions that she would like answers for, for herself, to understand. questions she may not get answers to. as long as what relationship she has with others, namely erik, doesn't change because of what she is or isn't... then, it's alright. to not have closure on those matters. )
i was able to heal someone. not with bandages or stitches. with my powers, from the inside. stopped their bleeding.
[ What that means can vary wildly. It really depends on the immediate impression he gets from the man. Erik is far from the friendliest sort, but he's nowhere near as abrasive and unpleasant as he used to be.
Besides, for Wanda, he will absolutely make more of an effort. ]
That's impressive. [ The text doesn't come even close to conveying how surprised and amazed he is. When he told her to explore other things she could do with her abilities, it hadn't even crossed his mind that she might be able to actually fix people. That opens a whole new myriad of possibilities. ] Too bad I didn't come across you later on. I had to stitch up my own stab wound.
[ Very much delivered as a joke. He's totally fine now. ]
( wanda has big hopes for it going alright. should she give david a heads up, too? eh—
her focus instead is on what erik says. text might not convey more than what it is (just words), but she has a feeling she gets how he means it. he's always championed her and her powers, trying to assuage whatever she may have felt about them. there's a pause, though, at the mention of a stab wound.
she frowns. injuries were inevitable during the blackout. )
has it fully healed? maybe i can try if i can help speed up the process. i haven't tried doing it again since, but... maybe i could practice. if you're comfortable with that.
[ Time will only tell. It's not as if Erik will go out of his way to find this David— not unless he gives him reason to. And at the moment the only reason would be to want to keep Wanda safe. But if he's a friend, then that should be a moot point. ]
I've removed the stitches, but it's not completely healed yet.
We can do that. I trust you, and I would like to see you using your powers in this manner.
[ Erik, by contrast, isn't even a little worried about this. He trusts her abilities, perhaps more than even she does right now. Furthermore, he trusts that she won't hurt him, even if she were unable to heal him. ]
I'm not home currently. I can meet you at your place, or you can come by later today.
( as wanda ponders over whether this is a good idea (she suggested this), she pulls away from those thought by erik's text. her immediate response is her new address (hopefully the last). erik trusts her with so much, and she, too, trusts him implicitly. it's not like her roommate (whom they were just talking about) is in, anyway, so she doesn't have to worry about that; hopefully, too, he won't mind, after the fact. )
i can meet you downstairs. just let me know when you'll be by.
( they can leave that conversation for when he does get here. he'll be pleased to see that she's in a better place, all things considered. it being the sanctum and all. )
let me know if you have any trouble getting in. see you soon.
[ He will be glad that it's a nicer place. He will be far less happy about the fact that it's in the Sanctum of all places. Something he only comes to realise once he drives out to meet her, a slight frown as he parks the car somewhat near the address, walking over while letting her know he's waiting outside the building.
His gaze is scanning the vicinity while he's waiting, and that's how she'll find him. Actually using his abilities to pinpoint the location of any potential surveillance cameras set up around the area. ]
( wanda steps out of the lobby, keys in hand, and finds erik—looking around as she's expected him to. the sanctum is nicer, yes, but it's steeped with surveillance. it in itself is not a big deal to wanda, who has no reason to feel worried about being seen; what's another camera recording her, anyway?
when she reaches him, wanda has a general idea that he's detecting where the cameras are. )
They don't bother me. ( she starts— ) It's easy to avoid them.
( but that's because of her powers. her expression softens, and wanda takes a couple steps closer, wrapping her arms around him in a brief embrace. )
[ He turns just as Wanda speaks up, familiar with that tug of the empathy bond they share. He smiles to her reassurance— he supposes it's a comfort that the constant surveillance doesn't bother her specifically, but Erik can't help feeling both uncomfortable and concerned. He could deal with the cameras just as easily, but property damage might come with more consequences than he's inclined to deal with at the moment. But to have them turn away is perfectly doable, at least for the few times he doesn't want to be followed when he's here.
He returns the hug, then tips his head towards the building. ]
( head up, then, is what they do. there's a small lobby where the elevator is, and up to the thirteenth floor they go. there are cameras in the elevator too, but that's expected; wanda thinks this is the case outside of panorama, too, in other worlds. soon enough, they're in the apartment, a few doors down the hall of same-looking doors.
wanda doesn't take off her shoes, but does put the keys on the small table on the side. the apartment is a lot bigger than what it may have first appeared: there's a kitchen and a comfortable sitting/dining room area, and then a hallway that leads down to a number of other rooms. the decoration is a little eclectic; sage and mauve and charcoal painted walls, a collection of books strewn about on the floor, carpets, some amount of orange-salmon colored curtains, a series of magnets on the fridge that hold up sheets of star stickers, and also some charts with a few stickers on.
she motions to the couch, green and bougie, throw blankets and cushions atop it. there's an unfinished card game on the coffee table nearby. )
[ It is a very nice place, he has to agree there. He'd seen enough of the Sanctum during the blackout that this is about what he was expecting— and it suits her, too. It's enough to put him a little more at ease, despite the ever present surveillance out on the streets. ]
Tea will do, thank you.
[ He takes a seat on the couch, looking around. Eyes lingering on the card game, then some of the books. ]
You're lucky to have found a place in such good condition.
[ After the mob that made it through the Sanctum, that is pretty good. ]

Does it mean Charles is different?
