Emma Frost. Surely you remember her.

I suppose she's sexy in an obvious way.

She was quite brilliant. Truly exceptional. You didn't get to learn that about her.

[ Erik did have more time to get to know her, before he got locked up. And before Trask. ]

[ Now he feels guilty for being jealous when she's dead. Ouch.]

I would have wanted to, given the chance.

[heavymetals]

[ It's also silly to feel jealous when Erik never once looked at Emma that way. (Also... Raven. So.) ]

I know. I think under different circumstances she would have liked that as well.

Sometimes I think how glad I would be if they all got a second chance, here. And I had the opportunity to not let them down again.

[thetruefocus]

I've met people with psychic abilities here, and I've learned how beneficial it would have been to experience that connectivity with someone back home too. If Emma and I hadn't been adversaries, we could have bonded that way.

We both let them down, Erik. Perhaps they will appear.

[heavymetals]

It was different. I was their leader, and if I hadn't gone on that damned mission on my own, then I wouldn't have been in jail when Trask came for them. I could have protected them, as was my duty.

[thetruefocus]

You were used to doing things on your own.

[ Charles can't absolve himself, let alone Erik. If they had been together, if they had been a team, it would have been different.]

The person who is responsible for their deaths is Trask and no one else.

That's true. I don't mean that I'm responsible. Simply that I could and should have been there for them.

[thetruefocus]

You wouldn't do that again. All we can do is learn from our mistakes. I'm sure a part of them did know that you would have if you could.

Not that either of us can know for certain.

You're right, of course. Wallowing in a past I can't change is pointless.

[thetruefocus]

I don't know, I agree when we wallow it isn't necessarily good for us, but I'm a firm believer that learning from the past is necessary. Remembering it is necessary. You won't do the same thing again.

Well, I didn't say anything about forgetting it, did I? I certainly hope to learn from past mistakes.

[ Not just that one, but others too. ]

We all do, love. And present mistakes too, as I made with Scott here. And trying to deal with Rogue.

With Rogue? What happened?
