Name: Erik Lehnsherr Door: Right Canon: X-Men Cinematic Universe Canon Point: Post X-Men: Days of Future Past Age: 43 years old Appearance: here. 6'2", fair skin, light brown hair and blue eyes. Tall and lean, decently built but not too muscular. He has a few small marks and scars, but the most noticeable mark on him is the number 214782 tattooed on the inside of his left forearm. History: Erik Lehnsherr (Magneto) @ X-Men Movies wiki (revised timeline) Personality: Positive Trait: Resolute Erik has a unique capacity to focus on his goals. When he finds a purpose, there is nothing that can make him stray from the path to achieve his objectives. He's assertive and doesn't hesitate in a single action, particularly as hesitation has cost him greatly when he was a teenager, watching his mother being killed when he couldn't gather the resolve needed to save her. Not only did that passion fuel his relentless search and subsequent revenge on Sebastian Shaw, the man responsible for his mother's death, but later too, as he focused on the struggles of mutantkind, a cause to which he's devoted himself completely. Negative Trait: Irascible One of Erik's greatest flaws, if not the greatest, is how quick he is to anger, and how easy it can be to make it happen. A man with a tragic and traumatic past, there are a number of triggers that can make him lose his temper, particularly as he's not yet at a point in his life where he has better control of his emotions. What's more, since his abilities are intrinsically tied to his emotions, angering him often results in violent outbursts or dangerous situations. For instance, angered by being attacked by both US and Soviet Union fleets, Erik blindly deflects a bullet meant for him, only to injure Charles and cause the damage to his back that led to his paraplegia. On another occasion, he and Charles get into an argument while on a plane, and as his emotions rise to the surface, he nearly brings it down until he eventually calms down. Negative Trait: Vengeful Closely tied to his positive trait, Erik is also a vengeful person. He believes in an eye for an eye, and seeking one's own personal justice, particularly through violence. When someone deserves to pay for something they've done, Erik doesn't believe in a higher power or a system that can punish them the way they deserve. He's sought retribution through his own means and with little regard for what's lawful or moral, on more than one occasion. Most notably, his relentless search for Sebastian Shaw, including killing two Nazi officers who once knew him during his pursuit, and later, seeking revenge against Bolivar Trask for his anti-mutant campaign, only stopped from killing him, the US President and his retinue when Mystique shot him non-fatally, then knocked him unconscious. Negative Trait: Calculating Despite the fact that he's prone to letting his emotions dictate his actions, Erik is also capable of cold, reasonable logic, cunning when it comes to achieving his own goals. He's not above lies and deceit to gain advantage and get closer to his objectives, even if it sometimes means betraying and lying to the people he's supposedly close to. He betrays Charles when they're working together to stop Mystique from murdering Trask, for instance; in fact, he also betrays Mystique in the process, as he reveals that his plan all along was to kill her and thus secure the future of all mutantkind. Powers and Abilities: Erik is an extremely powerful mutant, with not many others being revealed to be stronger than him (for instance, Jean Grey and Apocalypse). His abilities revolve around magnetokinesis; he is capable of creating and manipulating powerful magnetic fields, which allows him to control metal in a variety of ways: • Metal manipulation: He can easily move pieces of metal of various sizes, using smaller ones like bullets or greater ones as blunt instruments. He's capable of altering the trajectory of bullets and other metal-made projectiles, and changing the way certain mechanical devices work. He can launch several items in rapid succession, and at great speeds, and he shows to be capable of performing several of these actions at once. • Flight: Erik can fly by gliding on magnetic fields he creates, or by wearing metallic items that he can control in order to fly or levitate. He can also draw himself to metal, as if he were a magnet. • Metal sensing: Erik can sense the presence of metal across great distances, with the ability being stronger and more accurate the closer that metal is to him. This of course allows him to know exactly how to use his environment to his own advantage, and often catch enemies by surprise. • Magnetic force fields: Through the creation of magnetic fields, Erik is capable of generating strong force fields which are impossible (at least so far) to penetrate. Although only used to shield himself in canon, it's reasonable to assume he could use this ability to also shield others who are near him. • Metallic bonding: Not a characteristic of his power often seen, but highly useful, Erik can implant metal into objects or people in order to control them. Power capping: Plenty of Erik's abilities are capable of causing considerable damage to the setting, a few being definitely game-breaking. As such, rather than suggest a power cap on each of his abilities, I would propose that his power capping would be stamina-based; basically, if he were to do anything that could cause significant damage (outside of specific events or a mod-approved player plot), his energy would be quickly depleted, proportional to how much damage he's trying to cause. Pushed to the limit, he would simply pass out, rather than be able to cause any serious damage. I'll further add that, as the player, I would be conscious to communicate with the mods if I ever thought to have Erik cause any damage, even to a smaller scale, rather than risk breaking any game rules.
