I daresay this is going to be the start of a beautiful friendship.

So like a badger or something. Got it. How finely can you control your metal thing? Any chance you've tried anything subatomic? Maybe we can remove it in thin layers, like nanometer thin, to do the least amount of damage and make it hurt as little as possible.
